Premium (if any) payable per share

The expression 'share premium' is used where the amount payable to take up the shares issued by a company is greater than the nominal/par value of the shares. For example, a company may decide to issue shares having a nominal/par value each of £1 and may require payment of £1.50 per share. The share premium in this example is £0.50 per share.
